This blog will provide a forum for discussion of the nature and aspects of education reform in Asian and Middle Eastern contexts. It is open to anyone who is involved in or concerned with education reform in these contexts.
thanks a lot for sharing this valuable presentation...it's for sure so helpful in creating a literacy-rich environment and prevents many problems that we encounter when teaching second language learners. I like the teaching strategies mentioned that promote learning and will use them with my kids. Concerning the handouts, are they available online?
ReplyDeleteI have a question when introducing the capitals and lower case letters...I think the kids will get confused if we teach them that capitals are for the name of the letter and the lower case is for its sound. What do you think about that?
Thank you again...it's a pleasure to follow your blog!
You're most welcome, Rawya! Unfortunately I'm not getting the response to this blog I had hoped for but will gladly answer your questions as best I can on the TEACH website or email me at william.tweedie@yahoo.ca.
ReplyDeleteKids generally won't get confused if you are spending the limited time recommended with Phonemic Awareness that is necessary. It also, of course depends on the level/grade you are teaching.
